Mental Health Group Homes
__________
Helton House currently operates two Mental Health Group Homes licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). DBHDS refers individuals who are ready to transition from hospital settings to community-based living.
Our homes serve adults with varying mental health and support needs. Support is provided with transportation, medication administration, accessing community resources, and other identified needs. Our Mental Health Group Homes provide a comfortable, welcoming, home-like environment. We encourage residents to take an active role in their homes, personalize their living spaces, and build meaningful connections within the community.
If you have a family member that could benefit from our services, feel free to contact us.
DD Waiver Residential Homes
Helton House currently has seven DD Waiver residential group homes. Our homes are licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services. We provide training in the homes such as self-care, communication, independent living skills, behavior management, and community living skills. There is support provided in the area of transportation, medication administration, and accessing community resources. The programs are staffed by Direct Support Professionals who provide skill building and safety supports outlined in the individuals person-centered plan.
Our homes are set up like a traditional home. We make every effort to ensure that the individuals are comfortable and feel welcome in their community. We encourage individuals to take ownership of their homes and make their living space their own.
Day Support
Helton House has both a center based (Group Day Services) and non-center based (Community Engagement) day program. Our day support programs provide skill-building support for the improvement of self-advocacy, self and environmental awareness, socialization, community integration, behavior modification, and daily living skills to name a few. We provide opportunities for peer interaction, development of natural supports, and community engagement through various volunteer and community activities.
We use an individualized treatment approach, refer individuals for additional services/adaptive devices, and coordinate services with other treatment providers. All staff members are trained in developmental disabilities, behavioral treatment approaches, and applicable medical diagnoses.
* Day Support, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, and Mental Health Skill Building are all directed by a Licensed Professional Counselor.
** Services are funded through Medicaid, private pay, and other community institutions (when applicable).
